Deep purple in color, this wine offers aromas of ripe, dark fruit, spicy notes of black pepper, mineral hints of graphite, and fresh traces of thick undergrowth. On the palate, the wine reveals smooth, soft tannins -- elegant with balanced acidity. Hints of licorice and pepper are present. Easy to drink. Can be enjoyed on its own or with strong red meat or game. Indicative blend: Predominantly Tempranillo with Mazuelo and Graciano Several important critics have rated this Rioja wine highly: The Wine Advocate gave the 2011 vintage a score of 95 and Wine Spectator gave the 2010 vintage a score of 92. One of the most expensive red wines from Rioja (top 20%). The price has been stable over the past year. This is one of the most popular wines from the region (with Wine-Searcher users).
